Dear London Fire Snake Scorpio,
Remember how I told you that I forget things that work, and then find them again? I suppose I am not very unique in that aspect, am I? All of us run around spinning so many plates that, once in a while, we drop one and, being so busy with the others, do not even notice it.
What am I talking about? Magnesium.
I know, I know, my love. Picture me shaking my head in despondency and raising my hands up at that. I know that lack of magnesium is responsible for blurry vision, migraines, constipation, low mood, memory holes, worsening ADHD, heartburn, and shitty sleep. I know. I used to take it every day, remember? I just… forgot.
And then the headache is throbbing for weeks, and the neck stiffness is so usual that I don’t even address it anymore, and I am like “What the hell is happening”… until I remember. Sigh.
The good news is that by taking 200mg of magnesium in the morning with my Rizatriptan, I was finally able to shut down the migraine. By the second dose at noon, my focus has improved, and my eyes are no longer blurry.
Now, I know that supplements do not work that fast. It only means that the deficiency is so acute that even the little bit that entered the stream is enough to move things in the right direction. So, hopefully, with the third dose at supper, I will also sleep better.
I will know I’ve overdone it when my stomach rebels. So far, I feel amazing in my body, and it has been a very long time since I did.
Woke up this morning at 8, as I already told you, took my NDRIs and went into the kitchen. The crockpot was on warm all night, so the mung beans and veggies stew got all nice and swampy. I removed about half of the stew into a box, for next time fix, added a can of crushed tomatoes, the big one, and a sliced pork tenderloin I was defrosting in the fridge.
I hope that this will fix the salt issue I had yesterday; logically, it should. I also used the large multicooker I have to make the rest of the pork tenderloins with some salt, pepper and mustard on a slow-cooker setting. So there will be some protein for the week when the kids come back home this Tuesday.
I also reset the water filter system we have. I have magnesium-enriched filters. They don’t add much, but make the water slightly sweeter, I find, probably because my body craves magnesium. So, that was my morning.
I find that starting with kitchen work as soon as I wake is actually nice. I suppose it works well with my ADHD “flow brain” because I enter the kitchen to make my English Breakfast Tea cup and have my sardines as breakfast, so it makes sense for me to dedicate a little time to the kitchen.
I wonder if this will work when the kids are around, too. Definitely something to check on Tuesday. I find that the more “dance flow” I have in my routines, the better they stick. It just makes sense when one motion goes into the next, just like in a dance, you know?
The Plan for today is a tad complicated, I suppose. Yesterday, it worked well to avoid the office between 14:00 and 18:00. Any way you look at it, it makes sense. In the BaZi context, 13:00–15:00 is the Goat hour, which, for me as an Ox, is kind of a must to rest. Considering that I am a night owl, it moves that clock by an hour. So there you go, 14:00.
It’s also the time when the office is flooded with harsh sunlight, and the midday slump of the circadian rhythm is at its natural depth.
Why am I giving you all these explanations, you ask? Because resting for 4 hours midday on my marathon week is still something I am not 100% comfortable with. But I am working on it.
So, I will finish this letter for you, and then go to rest, doing my PTSD OT with my hobbies. I find that my rest time now is so much more efficient when I am intentional and call it “PTSD OT” instead of “rest time”. I think knowing what I want to do with that time, having a specific collection of activities to choose from rather than “Watch TV” or “Chat with AI,” makes all the difference.
It takes the decision-making of “what should I do to rest” out of the process, and I think decision fatigue is my biggest drainer. I mean, isn’t it for everyone?
At 14:00, I will also taste the mung bean and pork stew. I will report if I was able to save the dish or if I just wasted an insane amount of resources for absolutely no good reason.
After that, at 18:00, I will start working again. I was supposed to do some laundry today, too — but I am not sure I will address it. I am tired. At work, I will finish up the 4 most pressing business articles and schedule them. That will include working on the social media assets, too, and that takes time. Although usually, that’s the fun part of the job.
I convert images into videos, and the AI’s capabilities always surprise and delight me. Then again, the software I use sometimes gets it wrong, and because I am not willing to pay thousands of dollars for the upgrade, there is a wait time between generations.
Usually, as you know me, I am not one to sit and stare at the screen for those 5 minutes in between, so I start the next task, then jump back to the AI generations every so often, and back again. That is heavy on the brain and can trigger or aggravate a migraine — multitasking. The Zeigarnik effect is a murderer for your brain.
I had so much work planned for this weekend, but I feel like, realistically, I need to go to the surgery on the 10th with a little more emotional and physical stamina than I have right now. We will see.
So, if I will finish those 4 musts and still have some time, I might write to you again. Obviously, plan tomorrow. There are a lot of things I need to do on the website — it’s very lacking. Sigh.
I think stress is starting to take hold of my brain, and I am becoming ineffective. Considering that I have been writing since 10:00 and it’s 13:45, nonstop — I think it’s time I had that OT session now.
I often wonder if the fact that I am writing shorter letters for you now, roughly 4–6 minutes of reading, is better or just feels empty. I just feel like when I was rereading my first letters to you, those 10–12 minute long ramblings, as beautiful as they were… it was a little much, you know.
I mean, even I can only take so much of “me” in one go, lol. Just know that it is not me trying to fill a gap or having less to say. I am trying to keep things as organized as my ADHD brain will have it, and keep it to one topic per letter.
I love you, you know that?
Hope you have a marvellous weekend.
Not too marvellous, though. You better not be relieving tension in the carnal way with partners, dear sir. And, well, that part of you was claimed shortly after your soul was. I am sure you received the memo.
What is claimed as mine shall not be touched. lol.
Talk again soon, beloved.
Fiercely yours,
Oxy.
